In 2005 I was diagnosed with severe hernation of several discs in my neck. The doctors felt it was imperitive to operate to prevent loss of function. I decided instead to work on the issue with Reiki, and if there were no improvement to go for the surgery. After some months I noticed improvement and went back to the surgeon. He spent quite a while testing and retesting my reflexes and ended up shaking his head and simply said, I don't know what you are doing, but keep doing it, return in six months. It has been several years since then and the neck remains stable.
My friend Dr. Harold Bob is the managing partner of a 7 physician primary care practice in Baltimore. He'd had spinal surgery in 1991. In 2001 he had a reoccurance at another disc level and decided to try energy based treatment prior to more surgery. Like so many others his symptoms abaited without surgery. He told me, "I have seen so many complications in patients who were operated on over the years, that unless I believe surgery is really necessary, I think it's reasonable to try conservative methods that allow the body to heal itself." Dr Bob added, certainly for a cancer that could be removed with surgery he would prefer to do that, and if a person has an infection that can be treated with an antibiotic we should use the tools we have of traditional medicine. There are other cases though when surgery and medicine used by traditional methods do not work, and peopkle should have a choice of non invasive natural remedies.
I can not guarantee to cure a disease with Reiki, but my experience is that people often feel better with it, and that it doesn't have the risks of medication or surgery. I advise people to tell their doctors when they are using alternative remedies and get their doctor's advice
